About us

Donya and Afshin, Kebab House restaurant founder-owners came to Saint John in May 2015.

How it started

Donya and Afshin, Kebab House restaurant founder-owners came to Saint John in May 2015. An educated family, Donya has master’s degree in marketing and was teaching at the university and Afshin is a mechanical engineer and was working as engineering/executive director in Petrochemical/oil/gas Industries in Iran before they came to Canada.
Donya’s families are working in food-producing in Iran, and she worked a few months at food promises here in Saint John to become familiar with restaurant atmosphere and food culture in Canada. They also participated in Queen Square Farmers Market by selling two kinds of Kebabs, beef kebab and chicken kebab and got good feedback from customers that encouraged them to open their restaurant.

How it continued

Afshin has Immigrated to Canada by PNP, Province Nominee Program and had an agreement with NB government to start a business in New Brunswick. After one year of their landing in Saint John, Donya and Afshin decided to open a Persian cuisine in Saint John. There is a diversity of different cuisines here in Saint John and why people here should deprive of Persian cuisine can complete this diversity puzzle food.
Afshin has participated in Business Immigrant Mentorship Program (BIMP) and got his certificate for this program in 2016.
After one year of dealing with many real estates, they found a great spot at 88 Prince William Street that was Mexicali Rosa’s restaurant for many years before. Thank you of Bob McVicar, Sutton Group and Derek and Terri Riedel, Civilized that trust Donya and Afshin to open their restaurant. People had experience with Mexicali Rosa’s, and now Kebab House with new interior design and new foods would make a unique experience of Persian tastes for people.
